At Little Feet Nursery, Al Khan learning goes well beyond classroom walls. We believe children benefit most from real-life experiences and adventures to better comprehend the world around them. One memorable recent event for children at our nursery was visiting a Fire Station where children had an exciting chance to explore fire safety techniques in an engaging, fun and engaging manner.
On this special day, our young learners were filled with enthusiasm as they explored the roles firefighters play in keeping communities safe.
An Explosive Day of Discovery and Excitement
As soon as they learned of their fire station visit, children became extremely enthusiastic. While many may have seen fire trucks before in books or cartoons or on the road, visiting one in real life proved an exciting new and thrilling experience for all involved.
Teachers carefully planned this field trip so children felt safe, supported and secured throughout. Teachers discussed with children beforehand what they might see during the tour as well as why safety education is so essential. As soon as we arrived at the fire station, children were warmly received by firefighters who shared knowledge and answered any of their queries.

Children were provided an exciting hands-on learning opportunity during a visit to a fire station. Firefighters introduced them to important tools and protective gear like:

- Oxygen tanks

Experience the Adventure of Fire Truck

No visit to a fire station would be complete without seeing one up close and personal. Children were delighted by exploring these large, bright engines up close; firefighters showed them all of the parts such as ladders, hoses, sirens, storage compartments etc. of each truck. Many children enjoyed sitting inside the fire truck and visualizing how it might feel to respond to an emergency, making this interactive moment all the more memorable and captivating.
Children also learned about fire trucks being tailored specifically to aid firefighters respond quickly and effectively during emergencies.
Gain Essential Fire Safety Skills Today.
Montessori School Sharjah primary aim of the visit was to help children gain awareness about fire safety in an age-appropriate and positive manner. Firefighters shared essential lessons like these from them:
- Always avoid playing with fire or matches when possible. Never touch matches or fire directly as this could ignite and start an accidental fire or burn accident.
- Understanding Fire Alarm Sounds and Sights
- Understand that firefighters are here to provide assistance and not intimidate.
- Staying calm and listening to adults are vital in emergencies.
- Learning basic emergency numbers.
These lessons were delivered using friendly conversation, demonstrations and child-oriented explanations in order to make learning simpler for young learners.
Building Confidence through Real-World Learning
Children often feel intimidated when encountering firemen dressed in full gear for the first time, yet during this visit firefighters explained to the kids that it’s only protective clothing meant for protection, while inside it lies someone there to assist and assist as much as needed.
Children gained confidence and comfort through engaging with firefighters in a welcoming setting, learning that firefighters are trustworthy community members dedicated to keeping people safe. This visit provided children with an invaluable opportunity to replace fear with understanding and confidence.
