Colorful Purple Day Activities at Little Feet Nursery

    January 30, 2026
    Purple Day

At Little Feet Nursery we transformed its hallways into an explosion of violet, lavender and indigo as we celebrated Purple Day, it truly brought out its potential.
Color Days for young children are more than an excuse for dressing up. Color days play an integral role in early child development, helping toddlers and preschoolers categorize objects, identify visual cues, and broaden their vocabulary.
Here is a look back at all of the amazing activities that took place this year and why events like these make our community truly extraordinary.

    Violet Wave: Morning Arrival

As soon as our doors opened, excitement filled the air. It was heartening to witness parents making such an effort in dressing their little ones in various shades of purple; from bright purple t-shirts and dresses to creative accessories like hair bows and socks their enthusiasm could not have been higher.
At our morning assembly, the children enjoyed participating in our “Purple Parade”. This gave them the chance to show off their outfits to peers and teachers alike while building confidence and social skills through standing proudly up during class participation and feeling proud that their participation made a contribution it truly illustrated our Sharjah nursery school’s community spirit.

The Magic of Mixing: Science Meets Art

One of the key learning objectives for the day was helping kids understand the science of color creation. We gathered around art tables for an engaging hands-on experiment which felt more like magic than science!
Cognitive Development: Cognitive development was promoted through learning the basic principles of cause and effect and color theory at an age-appropriate pace.
Sensory Stimulation: Finger painting allows children to explore texture and fluidity – crucial components in sensory processing
After their successful mixing experiment, our children used their homemade purple paint to craft collaborative murals using handprints stamped onto large sheets of paper creating beautiful work of art which now graces our classrooms.

    Exploring Through Touch and Play

Touch and play is essential to brain development. On Purple Day, our sensory bins were given an eye-catching monochromatic makeover.
Bins were filled with purple-dyed rice, lavender-scented playdough, and soft Purple Pom-Poms; children used scoops, spoons, and their fingertips to sort through it all. This play helped develop fine motor skills -the small movements in hands and fingers which lead to writing in preparation for writing.

The Purple Picnic: Evolve Your Health Habits

Our “Purple Picnic” featured naturally purple foods to demonstrate healthy eating practices for our color theme: Red Grapes, Plums and Blueberries were among those introduced during snack time.
Teachers discussed the textures and tastes of fruits and vegetables found within our Rainbow Diet curriculum, such as purple cabbage. Our teachers explored this fruit’s and vegetable’s various textures and tastes while emphasizing its importance for building strong bodies.

    Why Thematic Days Matter

You might wonder why we dedicate entire days to one color; doing so creates a focused learning environment where children encounter purple in various contexts: clothing, paintbrush strokes, snacks and storybooks alike providing continuous reinforcement of recognition and comprehension of its presence in their world.
As Best Nursery in Sharjah, Little Feet Nursery’s aim is to foster an environment in which education blends seamlessly into play for its young students, where education meets play not merely teaching colors by name; we encourage an experience-driven education approach for our pupils.
Purple Day wasn’t successful because of cute photos or artwork sent home; rather, its success lies with how children connected. They learned about mixing colors to form something entirely new; healthy food can still taste amazing; and most importantly that coming to school can be exciting adventure.
